When it comes to foundation and rock drilling, precision is essential. Whether you’re working on a remote slope stabilization project or a dense urban jobsite, the ability to drill accurately and efficiently can make or break a project.
That’s where TEI Rock Drills technology stands above the competition. Engineered for maximum control, versatility, and performance, TEI drilling systems are trusted worldwide for their ability to deliver unmatched accuracy in challenging conditions.
In this blog, we’ll explore how TEI’s innovative technology helps contractors maximize drilling precision, improve productivity, and meet the demands of today’s complex drilling environments. We’ll also look at TEI’s educational aspects and why working with the professionals using their equipment matters to them.
Let’s start by looking at the products TEI offers.
About TEI rock drilling equipment
All TEI rock drilling machines are made in a state-of-the-art, ISO-certified manufacturing facility, where they undergo engineering, testing, failure, and success before being launched onto the market.
TEI Rock Drills has three product categories: drilling attachments, limited access, and drilling components.
Drilling attachments
TEI rock drilling attachments are some of the most flexible tools available to use with excavator for ground improvement, earth retention, and rock drilling projects.
These attachments use TEI’s patented system, which combines a drifter with Automatic Stroke Adjustment (ASA) or a rotary head with a powerful feed system. This setup delivers top-level performance for soil nailing, micropiles, and mining.
The TEI Excavator Attachment handles tough drilling conditions. Its dual 360º positioners give it a wide range of movement, while the radio remote allows you to drill from the excavator’s cab or on the ground near the drill.
TEI’s drilling attachments include the following:
- Casing/rod handlers
- Excavator mounted drills
- Skid steer mounted drills

Casing/rod handlers (HCC10X, HCC16X)
The HCC10X casing/rod handlers handle 5- to 10-inch casing, 40mm- to six-inch drill pipe, and dual 360-degree positioners. The HCC10x’s dry weight is 1100 pounds and can handle a maximum tool weight of 1000 pounds.
The HCC16X casing/rod handlers handle 3- to 16-inch casing, the same dual 360-degree positioners. They weigh between 2000 and 3000 pounds. The HCC16X’s dry weight is 2600 pounds and it can handle between 2000 and 3000 pounds of tooling.
Excavator attached drills (MME, MEH, HEM, HEMH, HEMHT)
The HEM excavator drill does not modify the excavator and comes in five different sizes to fit your drilling needs. The hydraulic power for the drill comes from the hammer circuit on the excavator. The attachment can be fitted with dual 360º positioners, single or double clamps, and rotary or hydraulic drifters.
Limited-access drills (TD75, TD100, MP, MPH)
TEI’s limited-access drills are electric and portable. Operators can choose from 75- and 100-horsepower drills. These drills are much easier than separate power packs and have only one electric cable that goes across the entire job site. They are available with complete radio controls.
TEI limited-access drills are designed to fit into the smallest of drill sites. The TD75 and TD100 are both self-contained, electric track-mounted drills. The MP and MPH are stand-alone drills that can fit into the tightest job sites. All limited access drills can be fitted with rotary or hydraulic drifters.
The MP Portable drilling platform is designed to reach the most difficult-to-access areas of the job site. Coupled with TEI’s quality lightweight components, it builds a powerful, dependable machine for almost all limited-access work.
The MP platform becomes a versatile tool for any contractor with its ability to install hollow bar/micropiles in any given location.
Drill components
TEI Rock Drills is a leading manufacturer of high-performance rock drill components, available individually for contractors and drilling equipment manufacturers.
When combined, these components create some of the most durable and technologically advanced drilling platforms in the construction industry.
Individually, they are readily available as replacement parts or for use by OEMs developing custom drilling systems for applications such as soil nailing, micropiles, and other geotechnical drilling methods.
TEI’s drill components include the following:
- Hydraulic drifters
- Rotary drills
- Dust suppression
- Shock subs
- Clamps and breakers
Rotary drills
TEI manufactures five different rotary drills from 1000 ft/lbs to 15,000 ft/lbs of rotary torque, offering the operator a versatile range.
Hydraulic drifters
TEI manufactures eight different hydraulic drifters to fit your drilling needs. TEI’s patented ASA does not waste energy and helps prevent dry firing. The percussion energy is only fully engaged when the drill string is on hard ground. The built-in grout swivel allows the use of air, water, or grout for different drilling methods.
Dust suppression systems (DS10851, DS26851)
TEI’s dust suppression systems eliminate up to 97% of dust in the air in accordance with OSHA’s 2016 regulations on exposure to respirable crystalline silica dust
The air compressor pneumatically powers the dust suppression systems and comes in 25-gallon and 100-gallon water tanks.
TEI’s rock drilling machines are built for tough job site conditions, but owning the right equipment is only part of the equation. Knowing how to use it effectively is just as important.
Combining powerful tools with proper training sets the stage for safer, more successful drilling operations. That’s why TEI strongly emphasizes education through programs like their Hollow Bar Seminars and annual Hollow Bar School. Here’s what makes them so valuable.
TEI’s Hollow Bar Seminars
Western Equipment Solutions will host this year’s seminar in November 2025 in Salt Lake City, Utah. It will focus on people, safety, schools, and training, including proper hollow bar installation methods, bidding hollow bar projects, and proper grouting methods.
Western Equipment Solution was present at the annual Hollow Bar School in Montrose, Colorado, where they assisted in the hands-on training with the drills and grout plants and the technical classroom presentations.
Between classroom and field training, participants were trained in all aspects of hollow bar installation, including:
- The TEI method for installation
- Grouting principles
- An overview of micropiles and soil nail design
- Step-by-step instructions on testing hollow bar micropiles
- Case studies from hollow bar manufacturers and TEI distributors
- Operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of each piece of equipment
“It takes a lot more than manufacturing and selling drills to be a great company,” TEI states. “It takes dedication to your people, products, and industry.” TEI believes in continually improving customer value through innovation, efficiency, and integrity.
